Bickel, Horst (1952) Aminoaciduria in childhood. Ph.D. thesis, University of Birmingham

Most of you will know that the first and also successful trial of dietary treatment of PKU took place at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, England in the 1950s.  The PhD thesis of Dr Horst Bickel who was the main investigator has been available in the Library at Birmingham University for over 50 years.
In recognition of the value and significance of the thesis Birmingham University’s Digital Assets Programme, Academic Services Department, Library Services, is ‘pleased to confirm that the scanned copy of Horst Bickel's thesis is now available to download from http://etheses.bham.ac.uk/842/.  The description of the dietary trial is recorded on thesis pages 36-46 (pdf pages 67-80) and is very legible.
